Steps to Faith – want it – pray for it – study it
If you would like faith but don’t know where to begin, then this is the webpage for you. There are three simple steps to have faith:
- FIRST – Want it – the first step is to want it. If you don’t want it, you won’t be shown the way.
- SECOND – Pray for it – the second step is to ask for what you want.
An Example Prayer for Faith: Hey God, are you there?
I don’t know if I believe in you or not.
I desire to have faith. Can you help clarify this situation for me?
Alternative Prayer: Lord, I think I might want to follow you.
Will you please show me the way? You said ‘knock and it shall be opened.’
So, I am knocking. Please show me the way!
- THIRD – Study it! – You can find out more about the faith easily these days, online, but there’s also a lot of noise. We suggest that you start with the Gospel of Luke. It’s a good, accessible Gospel, filled with stories that give you a taste of the character of Jesus and the sort of God that might be interesting, and the kind of joy that can come from faith life. Matthew is a little more esoteric – the Beatitudes and so on – so save that for later. Don’t simply start trying to plow through the Bible from the beginning thinking that’s a great way to jump start a faith life. It’s a collection of over sixty books that needs a bit of know-how to be accessible… don’t worry, that’ll come later.
To Follow Jesus…
If you are feeling called to follow Jesus but don’t know what to do next, then this is the right page for you. Yes, you can become a Jesus follower. It’s not hard… you simply need to invite Jesus into your life. After that moment, you can join a local community and gain support along your spiritual path, including the beautiful and spiritually moving experience of baptism.
Inviting Jesus: Lord Jesus, I thank you for your gift of love and forgiveness.
Come into my heart – help me to love and to forgive. Bless me to be a blessing.
I make you my Lord and savior.
It’s really okay to still have a lot of questions. Life is a journey, and the joy is in the discovery.
If you’ve been helped by this webpage or made such a commitment as a result of this website, we’d love to hear from you. May you be blessed and uplifted in your faith journey.
