The Ministers’ Council of the American Baptist Churches, USA has generously allowed us to share their ministers’ ethics pledge with you.
The pledge begins with respecting and recognizing many calls to ministry, not only among Baptists but other Christians as well, refraining from prosyletizing from other Christians. It covers advocating for adequate compensation, while also not charging congregants.
It includes the following aspects that harken back to the Hippocratic oath: recognizing primary obligations; maintaining self-discipline and wholesome life; refraining from unfair advantage and personal favors; and the keeping of confidences.
