WebGem: Mary Did You Know?

Our WebGems selection for Midwinter (December 2015 / January 2016) is the haunting “Mary Did You Know?” that we have been allowed to share with you courtesy of Peter Hollens. The song, available for purchase at loudr.fm, speaks for itself. Our thanks to Peter Hollens, for allowing us to embed this video and feature it as a WebGem.

About Peter Hollens – Peter Hollens is a fresh new a capella artist who weaves rhythms and melodies and harmonies together into compelling, moving works of art. By the way, a capella (pronounced ah- kapˈpɛlla) is Italian for “in the manner of the chapel” and refers to music that was to be performed without accompaniment. In cantatas, by contrast, the singer(s) are accompanied by one or more instrumentalists.
