The Hail Mary

The Hail Mary is a prayer requesting the help of the Virgin Mary. A common misconcepetion is that the prayer indicates worship of Mary, as if praying to a deity. The prayer is simply asking Mary to pray for us, interceding on our behalf. It begins with the salutation that Mary received from the angel Gabriel, at the annunciation [Luke 1:28]. The success of our Multilingual Lord's Prayer project has given rise to a number of inquiries regarding the Hail Mary, so we are gathering simple translations and offering them here. Our rosary/prayer-bead page and our Hail Mary in the C Programming Language page may also be of interest to those drawn to this particular prayer.
